Australia: Nearly an hour for kids to burn off a packet of chips

Many of the snacks in kid’s lunch boxes take a long time to burn off.

Eight-year-olds would have to ride a bike for 48 minutes, or skip for over half an hour, to burn off the energy in ate a small packet of chips.  After eating a small burger, chips and a soft drink, they would have to ride a bike for three hours or run around for five hours to burn off the energy.

The study comes from the Children’s Nutrition Research Centre in Queensland.
