Sweden: Being obese in late teens ‘is as bad as smoking’

A study of Swedish men found that those who were obese in their late teens faced serious health issues.  Like heavy smokers, they had nearly double the risk of dying during the next four decades, compared to those whose weight was normal at age 18.  Those who were seriously underweight faced the same risk.

The study was published in the British Medical Journal
